My First Blog EVER

I apologize upfront for any rambling that I may do in this first blog. I am a movie critic and an aspiring writer who just wants to improve her writing skills. As I have no money, I figured blogging would probably be a good start. I am currently a stay at home with a 4 month old little girl. I know that I will be sacrificing a lot over at least the next 18 years but one of them will not be my passion for writing. I love to discuss movies, fashion, politics, animals rights, etc. I am an opinionated person but feel that I am open minded. But back to movies. I feel that today's movies cater to the stupid and that moviemakers have gotten lazy. I am just now starting to realize that award shows are more political than about the actual quality of the film. I did agree with this past year's Best Film award to The Departed as I think it was the best film of 2006. But the previous year of Crash winning the top award was a joke. Crash was a manipulative film that could have been a movie of the week with a lesser cast. I love Paul Haggis but I believe that Brokeback Mountain was the true winner. My belief is supported by the fact that Ang Lee won best director. I have read that the reason that Brokeback Mountain didn't win best picture was because a lot of the voters wouldn't see the film. As liberal as Hollywood is, what does that say about their views? I believe that I have rambled on enough for this first blog. I welcome all comments, positive or negative.
